Ruth Bader Ginsburg has a message for Donald Trump, who wants her gone from the Supreme Court because she is ‘mentally unfit’

President Trump first demanded Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg resign after she criticized him during the 2016 presidential campaign, saying her “dumb political statements” and inferred “mind is shot.” Trump described her as “mentally unfit” after she raked him over the coals in a series of media interviews.

In a CNN interview, Ginsburg called Trump “a faker.” “He has no consistency about him,” she said. “He says whatever comes into his head at the moment. He really has an ego. How has he gotten away with not turning over his tax returns? The press seems to be very gentle with him on that.”  She also joked about moving to New Zealand if Trump wins the White House. “I can’t imagine what this place would be – I can’t imagine what the country would be — with Donald Trump as our president,” she said in a New York Times interview.

Not so fast there –  Ginsberg killed off any dream Trump has that her retirement may be imminent by hiring a full slate of clerks through 2020. Ginsburg’s newest hires include: Alyssa Barnard, a Columbia Law graduate; Harvard Law grads Marco Basile and Susan Pelletier; and Stanford Law grad Michael Qian. Ginsburg eventually apologized for bashing then-candidate Trump, but how things have changed since – regarding the makeup of the Court and the two additional Supreme Court Justices Trump has already gotten confirmed.

Ginsburg said, in an interview with the BBC’s Newsnight, simply:

“We’re not experiencing the best of times.”

Back in November 2017, Trump had the hubris to release a list of potential Supreme Court nominees. He got very lucky that his party was able to hold Scalia’s seat hostage so that he could install Neil Gorsuch. For him to have released his short-list of favorites after having repeatedly insulted Ruth Bader Ginsburg was to engage in a tickle-fight with a wolverine.

Even if Ginsburg had planned for decades to retire before 2020, Trump’s own antics will have caused her to delay that. Once again, Trump proves he’s neither “very stable” nor a “genius.” A man can dream, but it’s looks like Trump is going to be stuck with the “Notorious RBG” through the entirety of his Presidency.

In honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s 86th birthday, hundreds of people showed up outside of the Supreme Court to plank and sing ‘Happy Birthday’:

Ginsburg has resumed her rigorous workouts involving planks and pushups after undergoing lung surgery in December, her personal trainer revealed at the #PlankLikeRBG event. Bryant Johnson revealed the news at a gathering outside the Supreme Court for Ginsburg’s 86th birthday, according to a reporter present at the event.

Ginsburg had surgery to remove cancer cells from her lungs, which were discovered after she took a fall in her office in November last year and fractured three ribs. The event was organized by The Outrage, a feminist organizing group and apparel company. Although people started planking at 5 p.m., the main plank happened an hour later – participants held the position during a rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’, sung by Miss District of Columbia USA 2008 Chelsey Rodgers.
