A huge donor to the GOP is putting his foot down and giving Republicans an ultimatum… ban so-called assault weapons, or no more money from him. I hate to break it to Al Hoffman Jr., but we can survive just fine without his blood money.
Hoffman is a Florida-based real estate developer.
In an email to half a dozen Republican leaders on Saturday, Hoffman decried the rash of mass shootings that has roiled the US for years and demanded that GOP politicians take action. “I will not write another check unless they all support a ban on assault weapons,” Hoffman wrote in the email, according to the Times. “Enough is enough!” He’s right… enough is enough. Hoffman can just stuff his money and piss off. We don’t need him. This is a guy who gave $1 million to Jeb Bush’s campaign. Enough said.
“For how many years now have we been doing this — having these experiences of terrorism, mass killings,” Hoffman told the Times. “It’s the end of the road for me.” The email was sent to Jeb Bush and Gov. Rick Scott of Florida, among others. It must be causing panic among these men who depend on such donors as Hoffman to get elected. Scott is considering a run for the Senate in 2018. I would tell him to be careful who you pick as a sugar daddy in politics. Hoffman has donated millions to Republican candidates and causes over the years, and we are about to see what they value more, the money or their constituents and their rights as Americans.
Hoffman doesn’t think he can convince Republicans to ban guns because they are too much in bed with the National Rifle Association. This guy isn’t a conservative and if he is a Republican, it’s in name only. He’s a leftist. He can take his money and just trot on over to his good friends at the New York Times where they will tell him he is brave for taking a stand.
Referring to the recent deadly school shooting in Florida, Hoffman wrote that he believes more massacres are likely to happen unless the government intervenes. “If we go from Orlando to Las Vegas, and now Parkland, you just have to know that there are others around the country just dreaming about staging another mass murder,” he wrote in his email. Yes, and more guns, not less is the answer. If those teachers had been armed, far fewer would be dead today.

Since the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where 17 were killed and 15 injured, key Republicans in Washington and Florida have not signaled an interest in new gun restrictions. Republicans control both the Florida state government and the federal government and have opposed most new limitations on firearms. Just as they should. There is no such thing as an ‘assault weapon’ and when these leftists talk about banning them, what they mean in reality is ban all guns. Not going to happen. A previous federal assault weapons ban was enacted in 1994 under Clinton and a Democratic Congress, but lapsed in 2004 while Republicans had full control of Washington.
Hoffman has urged Republicans to support certain gun control measures in the past, but stopped short of making a threat about donations. Now, he’s going all the way and making demands that are fascist in nature. This guy is no fan of Trump’s. “I’m going to email every single donor I know in the Republican Party and try to get them on board,” Hoffman said. “We’ve really got to start a little movement here.” No, you aren’t and it’s time for you to exit stage left. You are no longer welcome in the Republican Party.
Hoffman is a former ambassador to Portugal. He’s just the type of so-called ‘moderate’ that is killing off the Republican Party. Peter S. Rummell, another Florida-based GOP donor, said he was on board with Hoffman’s plan and would only support candidates who were in favor of banning assault weapons. Good. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out of the party. We don’t need you or your money. These guys also gave more than a million to Mitch McConnell. They are the very definition of fat cats controlling the GOP. We would be far better off without them and their dirty, liberal money.
