Hollywood isn’t saying much about the banning of an Academy Award nominated film at the University of Michigan, but new football coach Jim Harbaugh set everyone straight: A few hundred signatures on a whiny student protest were enough to get the speech-code loving, anti-First Amendment, closed-minded losers who make up the Michigan faculty to ban Clint Eastwood’s “American Sniper” because it might be **GASP** ‘provocative’…

Enter new football coach Jim Harbaugh, the former firebrand coach of the San Fransisco 49’ers and NFL quarterback. He Tweeted the following:

Can’t say I’ve been much of a fan of coach Harbaugh until now. Now? HUGE FAN!!! GO MICHIGAN!!!!! Like me on Facebook – if you dare. No one turned away.

By the way where are Hollywood activists screaming about the schools banning certain films? The libs in the biz are cutting their own throats by not unequivocally protesting about art not being censored and how films can spark the conversation – not end it.

But that’s the left: Thier ideology trumps all – including their own products being seen.

I don’t blame the students – they not only have a right, but a duty to protest whatever they see fit to. But the Administrators giving into pressure by Muslims? I know the whole Dearborn situation, but you gotta show students that they have a right to see EVERYTHING and make up their own minds.

Bunch of dopes running our college campus’.

Oh well, at least the coach loves America.

The school originally planned to show the film, which is about the life of the late U.S. Navy Seal Chris Kyle, on Friday night as a voluntary entertainment option. A student-led petition then made the rounds asking to cancel the screening of the movie.

From the Detroit Free-Press:

Lamees Mekkaoui led the drive to get “American Sniper” tossed. She questioned why the school would play a movie that makes her uncomfortable and promotes what she and others have said are anti-Arab and anti-Muslim sentiments.

The drive, which included a letter signed by a couple of hundred fellow students, led the university’s Center for Campus Involvement to pull the film from its lineup of UMix events.

Harbaugh tweeted the above before the school changed course.

Late on Wednesday, school vice president of student life E. Royster Harper issued this statement:

“It was a mistake to cancel the showing of the movie ‘American Sniper’ on campus as part of a social event for students.

“The initial decision to cancel the movie was not consistent with the high value the University of Michigan places on freedom of expression and our respect for the right of students to make their own choices in such matters.

“The movie will be shown at the originally scheduled time and location. We recognize, however, that some students are uncomfortable with the content of the movie, and appreciate that concern.

“Therefore, the university also will show an alternative movie, “Paddington,” in another location on campus at that same time and date to provide our students with additional options that evening.”

Harbaugh has not said if he will still hold a screening for his team on top of the one offered to the general student body.
